The Experience

We want each visit to the Red Hare salon to be special, so we make sure the experience each time is only the very best.
We do this through continually training our staff, using only the very best products and having those little details that matter to us, and our clients.

We love Kevin Murphy products, it is not only a brand that delivers but it matches our own ethos. The line only uses natural ingredients from sustainable and renewable sources to ensure no harm is done to the environment.
The KEVIN.MURPHY luxury hair care products are designed to deliver performance, strength and longevity, and importantly the line only uses natural ingredients from sustainable and renewable sources to ensure no harm is done to the environment. This falls in line with our own strong ethical values we have as a responsible hair salon and business. The products are Ammonia free, PPD free, Paraben Free and Sodium Laureth Sulphate Colours, Perms and Products, which is important to us in our salon. KEVIN.MURPHY are also the first ever hair brand to switch to 100% Ocean Waste Plastic packaging, which is pretty amazing and we are proud to use them.

The ultimate hair-wash experience...

Our shampoo stations are the talk of the town, and are something our clients always request when they visit our salon.
The chairs are fitted with a Roller-ball Shiatsu massage on the back, vibrating seat and leg-rest massage along with an electrical footrest which is all conveniently controlled via a remote - and just feel incredible! We can make the experience even more special if you request our back-room, to enjoy a relaxing hair treatment under candle light, helping you to relax even further.
We also use ECOHEADS shower heads at all our sinks, which use 65% less water. We try as a salon to be as eco friendly as possible, which is why these little details are so important to us at Red Hare.

A salon that cares…

We have been working with the charity called My New Hair, which supports those undergoing treatment for, or are in remission from cancer.

Our salon founder Jo was trained by Trevor Sorbie MBE who founded the charity, meaning Red Care can provide a wig styling service for people suffering from cancer and medical hair loss.
Red Hare have pledged our commitment to responsible training and provide a caring and sensitive service for our clients. We can help cut wigs to shape a clients face, and also advise on when it is suitable to start colouring hair, especially after intensive cancer treatments.
You can find out more about the charity by visiting and please do contact us if you wish to book a consultation.

Our ongoing training...

All of our stylists and apprentices are part of our continuous training programme and it's important to us that we keep up-to-date with the very latest in the world of hairdressing, colours and products that we can give directly back to our clients.
Being a KEVIN.MURPHY SESSION.SALON means Red Hare are part of an elite group of salons that set the benchmark in editorial styling excellence. We are the first to hear about and experience all the new changes within the world of hairdressing, and we get to train face-to-face with the team for one of the most talented hairdressers in the world.

Feeling nervous?

We understand that some of our clients are a little more nervous than others at setting foot inside a salon - and especially since the COVID-19 pandemic hit, many more have been worried, especially if they have been shielding or only just getting back out into the world.
Please request our private hairdressing room when making a booking with one of our team, and we shall do our best to help you feel at ease. The room is fully equipped with everything we will need to style, wash and colour your hair and will hopefully take away some of your anxieties.

Did you know?

Being a hairdresser isn’t just a job, it’s our passion and is a way many of us can express our creativity.
Joanna Apperly, the founder, knows this more than most, as she is also a talented and published artist, having studied fine art at the University of Leeds. She was also working as an artist for many years before she trained as a hairdresser and opened this salon!
During lockdown she was able to rediscover her love for the canvas and in her spare time has once again been creating her art, which is inspired by her love of colour, food and the natural world! Want to see her work? Please do take a look at her website and you too could own one of her originals:
